What is an mp3?

An mp3 is a file containing an audio recording in a compressed format, which means that it takes less time to download from the internet, and less space to store on your computer.

How do I play mp3s files?

Some more modern operating systems - such as Windows XP, 2000 and Mac OS X - can play mp3 files without you having to manually download any new software. (In XP or 2000, try loading the file into Windows Media Player; in Mac OS you should play the file in iTunes.)

If you find that your operating system won't play mp3 files, try downloading Winamp for Windows or iTunes for the Mac.
